What you'll do

The clips here are AI-generated. You listen to short samples of synthetic Dutch speech and decide whether a native speaker would believe them, looking at pronunciation, grammar and the overall authenticity of the delivery. Where a clip fails, you write down what failed and how it could be better, using the project's own tools and guidelines.

Dutch is a good test case for speech synthesis because the traps are small and audible: the uvular or rolled r, the "g" that separates a speaker from Rotterdam from one from Limburg, word stress in compounds, and the de/het errors that betray a non-native text source. The ad specifically wants someone with "a deep understanding of regional language variations", so a speaker who can hear where a voice is from, and whether that matters, is the target.

You work alongside quality assurance leads to keep ratings consistent, and join occasional project update sessions.

Who fits

  • Native-level Dutch with a solid grasp of regional variation
  • Strong written and spoken Dutch and English, with English at B2 or above
  • Demonstrated attention to detail in language analysis or editorial work
  • Constructive, specific feedback in a clear style
  • Comfort with online review and documentation platforms

Previous work in linguistic evaluation, language teaching or translation helps but is not required, and neither is AI experience.

What it pays

$30–65/hour, micro1's published band, identical to its Bengali, Hebrew and Italian bilingual listings. The ad does not explain what decides placement in the band. No hours, project length or payment schedule are stated.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Open to native speakers without formal linguistic training
  • 100 openings, flagged as high demand
  • Short clips make for well-bounded tasks
  • Remote, with no country restriction on the listing

Less good:

  • A wide band with no published basis for placement
  • Rating synthetic speech is repetitive and relies on sustained concentration
  • No hours, duration or start date stated
  • Whether Flemish counts as in scope is not stated
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage

About this listing

Posted by micro1 on its own jobs portal about a month before we confirmed it open on 24 September 2026. The $30–65/hour band, 100 openings and the qualifications above are its published text. micro1 also runs Dutch recording and Dutch transcription listings, which are different jobs: one produces speech, the other writes it down. The customer is not named. See micro1.
