How this differs from the other In-House Counsel listing
micro1 ran an earlier In-House Counsel listing, now closed, on the same $90–130/hour band with the same task-based pay. The difference was the paper you were expected to know: that listing asked for MSAs, NDAs and DPAs. This newer one, posted three days before we read it, swaps DPAs for ISDAs and derivatives. If your in-house years were spent on trading documentation and master agreements for a financial counterparty, this is the one written for you.
What you'll do
You work through simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises, then assess how an AI model handled the same contract scenarios and write expert feedback on where it misread risk or contract language.
The more lasting part is building the yardstick: objective evaluation frameworks and grading criteria so model performance on contract tasks is scored the same way every time. You also work with product and research teams on the data, guidelines and practices behind an AI contract review product.
Who fits
- At least three years of in-house experience on technology transactions, particularly negotiating MSAs, NDAs, ISDAs and derivatives
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with close attention to detail
- The ability to turn legal judgement into feedback an AI team can act on
- A real interest in where law and technology meet
- Experience on cross-disciplinary teams in fast-moving environments
Prior exposure to AI, legal tech or training projects is preferred, not required. No bar admission, jurisdiction or law school tier is stated, and the location is simply "Remote".
What it pays
$90–130/hour as a target, paid per task. The ad says compensation is per completed task that meets the project specifications, with an average handling time of about 3.5 hours, and the effective hourly rate depends on how many tasks are completed and signed off.
At the average handling time, a signed-off task would be worth roughly $315–455. That is our arithmetic on the two published figures, not a per-task fee micro1 states. Rejected work is not paid, and no sign-off rate is published, so your first few tasks are where the real rate gets decided.
Worth knowing
Good:
- 100 openings, flagged new and high demand
- Derivatives and ISDA experience is a rare specialism, and this listing asks for it by name
- Part-time by design and fully remote
- The pay mechanism is published, including the average task length
- Framework and rubric writing lasts longer than one-off review work
Less good:
- Pay depends on sign-off, and unaccepted tasks earn nothing
- A 3.5-hour average means early tasks will likely run long at your own cost
- The ad pairs ISDAs with "technology transactions", which is an unusual combination; ask which contracts the tasks actually use
- No start date, weekly hours or project length stated
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
About this listing
Posted by micro1 on its own jobs portal three days before we read it on 24 September 2026. The $90–130/hour band, the 100 openings, the three-year requirement and the task-based compensation terms are its published text. The per-task figure is our calculation. micro1 also runs a near-identical Transactional Attorney listing on the same band that adds a preference for M&A or fund-formation experience. See micro1.
