What you'll do
This role is less about building a model from scratch and more about explaining how you build one now that AI tools sit in the workflow. You describe how platforms such as Rogo, Hebbia, Model ML or Claude for Financial Services fit into your financial modelling, research, valuation and day-to-day deal analysis, and you produce example workflows, analyses or reports that use them.
The other half is judgment. You evaluate AI-driven research and modelling output for effectiveness and accuracy, say where the tools save time and where they break down across a deal cycle, and take part in side-by-side exercises that compare the traditional way of doing a piece of work with the AI-assisted way. Findings go back in writing and, the ad notes, verbally as well.
It is remote contractor work. The ad does not state weekly hours or project length.
Who fits
- A substantial background in investment banking, equity research, corporate finance, asset management or a closely related deal or analysis discipline
- Hands-on, day-to-day experience as an Analyst, Associate or VP doing research, modelling and transaction work
- Direct use of at least one AI platform built for finance professionals (Rogo, Hebbia, Model ML, Claude for Financial Services or similar)
- Clear writing and speaking, including explaining analytical work to people outside your team
- The ability to describe how AI tools were adopted and integrated across a team or a workflow, and to give feedback that improves them
- An interest in where financial technology is heading
All of these are listed as preferred qualifications, and the ad says no prior AI experience is needed in the model-training sense. In practice the AI tool experience is the point of the role: a strong banker who has never used one of these platforms has much less to contribute here.
What it pays
$150–220/hour, micro1's published figure for this listing. The ad does not say what places you within the band, whether pay is for time or per task, or how many hours are available each week.
For comparison, micro1's Investment Banking Expert listing publishes $175–300/hour. That is a different role: it asks former senior associates and VPs to build and critique comps, valuation models and pitchbook pages. This one is about documenting and grading AI-assisted workflows, and it explicitly includes Analysts.
Worth knowing
Good:
- High hourly figures for AI training work, with Analysts included in the target profile
- Your real experience with finance AI tools is the main credential, which is unusual
- Equity research, corporate finance and asset management backgrounds count, not only banking
- Ten openings, flagged new and high demand
Less good:
- If you do not use Rogo, Hebbia, Model ML or a similar platform in your daily work, this is probably not the listing for you
- No basis for placement inside the band, no hours and no project length are stated
- Part of the work is verbal, so expect calls or recorded explanations rather than pure written tasks
- Check your employer's policies before describing internal workflows; the ad does not say how confidential deal material is handled
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
