What you'll do
The customer is building AI tools for medical communications and healthcare professional (HCP) engagement, and you judge whether what it produces would pass a medical affairs review. The materials are the ones an agency account team handles: medical education modules, advisory board summaries, scientific slide decks, HCP materials and digital medical web content.
Your assessments cover:
- Compliance and structure: scientific accuracy, fair balance, and whether the framing suits the audience (HCPs versus patients)
- Narrative and messaging: tone, strategic messaging, clarity and the visual logic of slides, making sure complex science is not oversimplified
- Source attribution: tracing claims, infographics and slide statements back to the literature, trial data and clinical summaries
- Structured feedback: detailed written explanations of what the model did well and badly, for the engineers tuning it
- Framework building: helping set benchmarks, quality rubrics and evaluation frameworks for MedComms generation
What sets this apart from its publications and regulatory-writing siblings is the visual and strategic layer: slide logic and messaging are in scope, not only text accuracy.
Who fits
- At least five years in medical communications, medical education or medical affairs at an agency, biotech or pharma sponsor, or consultancy
- Direct experience creating slide decks, advisory board summaries, MedEd modules and digital content
- A solid grasp of medical affairs strategy, scientific platforms, and the regulatory and compliance limits on HCP and patient communication
- The ability to review visual and written content together
- Excellent writing and a record of structured editorial critique
- An advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, MSc) in life sciences, pharmacy or medicine, or equivalent industry experience
- Broad therapeutic exposure; oncology, neurology or cardiology especially welcome
What it pays
$50–80/hour, micro1's published figure, matching the Clinical Publications Author listing posted with it. For a senior MedComms manager it is modest against agency day rates. No compensation structure, weekly hours or duration is stated.
Worth knowing

Less good:
- Pay below typical senior MedComms freelance rates
- Five-year floor
- No hours, duration or pay structure published
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
