Clinical & Health Specialist
Turing: pay and who it accepts · Posted
What you'll do
You use your clinical judgment to build and grade tests for AI models. On the authoring side, you write difficult clinical tasks, long patient-chart scenarios and realistic workplace cases, together with the gold-standard answer and the criteria for scoring it. On the review side, you apply rubrics to model output and judge whether it is accurate, safe for the care setting and defensible, looking for missing or unsafe actions in fragmented records.
Turing has bundled many disciplines into one opening, so the tasks vary by your specialty: mobility and discharge planning, swallow and diet-texture advice, prior authorization and denials, coding and clinical documentation improvement, infection prevention, medication safety, addiction treatment, emergency decisions or EMS handoffs. Expect several rounds of critique, where you revise tasks after calibration feedback.
Who qualifies
- Roughly 3 to 15 or more years of professional experience in a relevant clinical, hospital, payer, laboratory, behavioral-health, revenue-cycle or quality setting, with practice in the last three years
- An active licence, board certification or recognised credential for your discipline (the ad names examples such as PT, OT, SLP, RN, RD/RDN, LCSW, PharmD, MD, DO, CPC, CCS and CPHQ)
- Strong chart review, clinical reasoning and written communication
- A bachelor's, graduate or professional degree, or equivalent practical experience
- Preferred: knowledge of US guidelines, payer policy and workflows; reference material may be supplied to contributors outside the US
Applicants are placed on one of two tracks, Expert Contributor or Senior Specialist / Functional Lead, depending on depth, experience, licensure, leadership and review experience. Seniors also calibrate other contributors' work and escalate rubric ambiguities.
What it pays
No pay rate is published on this listing. Turing sets rates per project and most of its listings state none; see Turing. Track placement will probably matter for the rate, so ask which track you are offered and what it pays before you accept.
Schedule and term
- Commitment: at least 4 hours a day and up to 40 hours a week
- Overlap: 4 hours with Pacific time
- Engagement: contractor, 12 weeks
Worth knowing
Good:
- Your licence and specialty are the core qualification, with many disciplines accepted under one opening
- Flexible hours, from 4 hours a day to full time
- Open to non-US clinicians, with reference material supplied where needed
- A clear 12-week term
Less good:
- No published pay, and the rate may depend on the track
- The 4-hour Pacific-time overlap is hard from Asia or Oceania
- Repeated critique and revision cycles make the work slower than a one-pass review
- Contractor terms: no benefits and your own taxes
About this listing
Read on Turing's job board; the ad was posted on 28 October 2026. No residence requirement or pay rate is stated, so both are left open. See Turing.
How to get hired
- The ad says you submit a Job Interest Form and complete the relevant assessment; selected applicants may then get a discipline-specific review or calibration exercise before contracting and onboarding. See the Turing hiring process guide.
- Lead your profile with the licence or certification and the setting you practised in during the last three years; those two items decide placement.
- Name the document types you have worked with (discharge plans, medical-necessity letters, coded charts, safety audits) rather than a general specialty label.
- Practise on a real long chart: write down the contradictions, omissions and unsafe actions you find, then grade your own notes against a short rubric.
- If you have taught, precepted or audited others' work, say so; it points toward the Senior track.
