What you'll do

This is the judgement tier above micro1's Hospitalist Physician chart-review listing. You review inpatient cases for clinical quality, documentation accuracy and whether the care was appropriate, and you are the one who identifies and decides the unclear, complex or unusual cases.

Every decision comes with reasoning: clear feedback explaining why, backed by clinical standards where needed. Beyond individual cases, you help improve the guidelines and review standards used to train the AI models, work with the project team on difficult questions, and help keep review quality consistent across reviewers.

The ad pitches it at physicians who enjoy explaining clinical reasoning, in writing and verbally. The skill being bought is articulating why a given plan was or was not defensible, whether or not you would have managed the patient the same way.

Who fits

  • MD or DO with ten or more years of attending-level hospitalist experience
  • Experience with clinical quality, documentation review, medical auditing or QA, including hospital QA or medical audit processes
  • Strong clinical judgement and the ability to make clear calls on complex or ambiguous cases
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Comfort working independently and remotely

Leading or contributing to inpatient quality, documentation improvement or coding and QA programmes is a plus. The ad does not include micro1's usual "no prior AI experience required" line, but asks for none.

What it pays

$70–100/hour, micro1's published figure, identical to the Hospitalist Physician listing that needs only recent inpatient practice. The extra seniority here buys harder cases and a hand in the standards, not more money, at least on the published band. No compensation structure, weekly hours or duration is stated.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Thirty openings, flagged high demand
  • Suits senior hospitalists moving towards quality and leadership work
  • Influence over review standards, not just case throughput
  • No stated recency rule, unlike the junior sibling

Less good:

  • Same pay as the less senior listing despite the ten-year bar
  • Well below clinical hourly rates for experienced hospitalists
  • No hours, duration or pay structure published
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
