What you'll do

If you have configured a Toast menu at midnight before a launch, or talked a new server through splitting a check, this project wants that knowledge written down. You review Toast workflows (order entry, payment processing, reporting), write step-by-step, scenario-based guides that reflect how a real service runs, and explain best practice for implementing and configuring Toast across different restaurant types.

A good part of the work is annotation: you label and evaluate authentic transaction data, menus and order flows so an AI model learns how restaurant POS operations actually behave. You also identify common pain points and fixes, and join sessions that refine the prompts, tasks and datasets.

Who fits

  • Substantial hands-on Toast experience: configuration, troubleshooting and daily use in a restaurant
  • A clear picture of how a POS connects front of house, kitchen and payment flows
  • Experience across restaurant concepts (quick service, casual, fine dining) and how their POS needs differ
  • Clear, accurate writing for technical and non-technical readers
  • A detail-minded, process-improvement habit
  • Having trained or supported staff on new restaurant tech is a plus

No AI experience is required.

What it pays

$28–92/hour, micro1's published band, and the spread is unusually wide: the top is more than three times the bottom. The ad does not explain placement, but a front-of-house user and an implementation specialist who configures multi-location setups are plausibly at opposite ends. Ask where you would land before starting. No compensation structure or hours are stated.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Values restaurant operations experience, which is rarely paid at this level
  • Forty openings, newly posted
  • No degree or minimum years stated
  • Remote, no country restriction stated

Less good:

  • A very wide band with no stated basis for placement
  • Toast-specific; Square or Clover experience alone is not what is asked for
  • No hours, duration or pay structure published
  • Contractor engagement, no benefits
