Audio/Voice/Annotation Trainer: Japanese Language

What you'll do

In the Japanese version of Turing's voice project, you are one voice among several in a scheduled group conversation. You discuss assigned topics, respond to others, ask questions and keep the exchange moving, using your voice to carry emotion, personality and tone. Backchannels and brief overlaps are encouraged, which is notable in Japanese, where short acknowledgements (aizuchi) are a normal part of conversation. The audio builds a multi-speaker diarization dataset.

You must be there at the assigned date, time and time zone for the whole session, and speak actively. A silent presence does not count as a contribution, and nothing is read from a script.

Who fits

• Comfortable speaking Japanese in a group conversation
• Reliable about session times
• Able to improvise on a topic without notes
• Equipped with a quiet room and suitable microphone

What it pays

No rate is published. The ad calls this a flexible agreement, not full-time or part-time employment. Turing sets rates per project; see Turing.

Worth knowing

Good:

• Conversation-only work in a fully remote setup
• Possible contract extension depending on performance and project needs

Less good:

• No pay figure to judge against
• Fixed session slots in an assigned time zone, which can mean unsocial hours depending on where you live
• Equipment rules: external microphone with wired headphones preferred, or a good wired headset; basic headsets, laptop speakers, Bluetooth earphones and open speakers are not allowed. Use the same gear as in your application audio sample
• Not employment
