What you'll do
Despite the title, the listing describes voice and audio work rather than translating documents. There are three parts:
- Recording Kansai voice content yourself
- Reviewing audio samples recorded by others or generated by a model
- Cross-checking spoken recordings against their written text, judging accuracy, clarity, naturalness and whether the recording follows the project guidelines
The reason a project asks for Kansai specifically, rather than Japanese in general, is that speech models are mostly trained on the Tokyo-based standard. Kansai speech (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and the surrounding region) has its own pitch-accent patterns, its own grammar endings and vocabulary, and a rhythm that listeners across Japan recognise at once. A model that renders Kansai text in a standard accent, or mixes the two, sounds off to a native ear. The listing asks for exactly that ear: pronunciation, accent, phrasing, tone and cultural nuance.
The listing does not say how long the project runs, how many hours are available, or whether recordings are scripted or spontaneous.
Who fits
- Native-level fluency in Kansai Japanese and close familiarity with how it is used in Japan
- A deep understanding of Kansai pronunciation, accent, phrasing, tone and cultural nuance
- Comfort speaking clearly on a recording, and listening closely enough to catch pronunciation or phrasing faults
- Patience with detailed project guidelines
The listing names no degree, years of experience or country of residence. Because you will be recording, a quiet room and a decent microphone are practical necessities, though the listing does not state equipment requirements.
What it pays
$17.00 an hour, the rate shown for this listing's "Advanced" tier. That is Invisible's most common rate for voice, audio and translation work, and the same as the Cordobés and Cantonese listings built on this template. It is modest for a skill as specific as native Kansai speech.
Contract terms on the listing: independent contractor basis, fully remote, on your own schedule, with payment issued weekly via Stripe or Wise. Invisible cannot support H1-B or STEM OPT contractors.
Getting started
Before paid work the listing shows two steps: upload your résumé (about 5 minutes) and unlock paid projects (about 30 minutes). The second is an unpaid qualification.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A rare request: most AI voice projects want standard Japanese only, so Kansai speakers face a small pool of competitors
- A mix of recording and reviewing rather than one repetitive task
- Flexible, remote hours
- Weekly Stripe or Wise payment stated in the terms
Less good:
- $17 an hour is low for specialist dialect knowledge
- The "Translation and Localization" title oversells the translation side; expect mostly voice work
- Recording needs a quiet space and reasonable equipment, at your own cost
- No hours, duration or volume guarantee; projects can end early
- Unpaid qualification before paid work
- No H1-B or STEM OPT contractors
About this listing
Read on Invisible's Meridial marketplace on 26 September 2026; it had been posted about two months before we read it. The rate, tasks, requirements and contract terms are Invisible's own text; the background on Kansai speech and the equipment note are ours. The client is not named. See Invisible Technologies.
