  • voice recording
  • conversation
  • speech data
  • diarization

What you'll do

This is a speaking job, not a typing job. Turing is collecting multi-speaker diarization audio, which means recordings of several people talking together so a model can learn who said what and how people really overlap, react and interrupt. You are one of the speakers in an assigned group session, talking in Korean about topics you are given.

The ad is firm that this is not a solo recording or a read-aloud task. You are expected to:

  • Join at the exact date, time and time zone you are given
  • Discuss the assigned topics naturally with the other speakers
  • Speak regularly, ask and answer questions and carry a fair share of the conversation
  • Keep it interactive rather than reading a script or giving a speech
  • Use natural reactions, including brief overlaps and backchannels

Who qualifies

  • Comfortable talking and reacting in a group conversation, in Korean
  • Able to be present for the whole session; staying silent is explicitly not acceptable
  • Able to follow instructions and discuss topics without a script
  • Able to provide a suitable recording environment and microphone

The microphone rules are the real gate. A proper external microphone with wired headphones is preferred; a good wired headset with a built-in mic is acceptable if the audio is clear. A basic headset alone is not enough, and laptop speakers, Bluetooth earphones and open speakers are ruled out. You should use the same kit for the session that you use for the audio sample submitted with your application, in a quiet room free of TV, music, fans, traffic, pets and other voices.

What it pays

The ad does not publish a rate. Turing sets rates per project, see Turing for how pay generally works there.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Fully remote
  • No degree or specialist background asked for, only Korean and a good voice setup
  • Possible contract extension based on performance and project needs

Less good:

  • Session times are fixed and mandatory; you cannot do this around your own schedule
  • No rate, session length or number of sessions is published
  • Your application includes an audio sample, so a poor microphone will rule you out early
  • The ad calls it a flexible agreement, not full-time or part-time employment, so expect no benefits

The process is shortlisting on qualifications and experience, then a delivery review before you can start.
