Korean Document Annotation Expert

What you'll do

This is document QA rather than language-model grading. You work through a daily queue of Korean PDFs that annotators have already processed, checking that fields have correctly placed bounding boxes, that the Korean text was captured accurately and in the right reading order, and that entities (tables, charts, key-value pairs, headers, footers) are classified correctly.

OCR pre-annotations are the trap here, because they look plausible but contain subtle character-level mistakes, spacing problems and line-break errors. You correct what you can, send the rest back with actionable notes, flag recurring patterns to project leads and join team syncs on edge cases. The data feeds OCR and document understanding models.

Who fits

  • Native or fluent Korean, strong on character-level correctness, spacing and usage
  • English at C1 or C2 for guidelines and written feedback
  • Prior QA, annotation, document review, content review or OCR validation experience
  • Familiarity with OCR systems, document parsing or PDF annotation
  • Ability to review dense layouts: merged cells, headers, footers, multi-column text
  • Discipline to self-review everything, including plausible-looking OCR output
  • Based in South Korea (the listing is open to KR only)

What it pays

The ad states up to $40 an hour, a ceiling. The employment type on the listing is full-time, while the text describes an hourly remote contractor role, so check the contract terms at onboarding. The same ceiling applies to the Korean Language Expert listing; the Korean Team Lead (QAL) goes up to $45. The listing does not publish payment terms; the process and payout details are on the company page.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Structured, queue-based work with clear QA criteria rather than open-ended writing
  • Up to $40 is above most language roles in this batch
  • Experience with OCR and layout annotation is transferable

Less good:

  • South Korea only
  • The listing marks the job full-time but describes contractor work; the ad does not clarify hours
  • Repetitive, detail-heavy review over large volumes
  • Hourly work is tracked by monitoring software
