Legal Expert: Talent Pool

Vetto: pay and who it accepts · Posted

What you'll do

Nothing yet: this is a pool application, and there is no start date. Vetto is collecting legal professionals ahead of expected project demand. When a project fits your profile, Vetto contacts you with its scope and pay. You can decline without penalty and stay in the pool.

When work does arrive, Vetto says it usually means judging whether an AI's legal reasoning holds up against the applicable law. You review generated analyses, clauses, summaries and arguments, and flag answers that sound authoritative but are wrong, outdated or wrong for the jurisdiction. Other tasks include writing fictional legal scenarios and test cases, building rubrics, and reviewing other professionals' work against them. It is remote, task based and asynchronous.

Who qualifies

  • A law degree or equivalent legal qualification, with hands-on professional experience
  • At least one verifiable signal of your background, such as a bar registry entry, published writing or academic work
  • Comfort reading and writing technical content in English

The ad welcomes litigators, corporate and contract lawyers, in-house counsel, compliance and data protection staff, tax, employment and IP lawyers, public sector and policy lawyers, experienced paralegals, academics, arbitrators and mediators.

What it pays

Vetto lists a variable range of $10 to $70 an hour and says each project states its pay when it contacts you. That floor is low for qualified lawyers, so treat the range as a guide and judge each offer on its own. The listing is flagged for weekly payouts.

Confidentiality

You must never use privileged or confidential client information. Vetto says its projects never need it, and any scenario you write has to be fictional or fully de-identified. The work is AI evaluation, so it is neither the practice of law nor legal advice to anyone.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • No obligation to accept a project, and no penalty for saying no
  • Open to many practice areas, and to experienced paralegals as well as lawyers
  • Weekly payouts are shown on the listing

Less good:

  • Applying gives you no guarantee of work or a date
  • The bottom of the pay range is far below typical legal rates
  • Vetto publishes little about its general screening process

How to get hired

  • Vetto does not publish a screening process for this pool, so your application is the test. Our general interview prep section helps once a project comes with a screen.
  • Give a checkable link first: your bar registry entry, firm profile or a published article. The ad requires one verifiable signal.
  • State your jurisdictions and practice areas precisely, because Vetto matches you to projects by profile.
  • Prepare by asking a chatbot a question in your own area, then writing down what it got wrong and what a rubric would need to catch it.
