What you'll do

Vetto builds tasks that AI agents must solve on a computer: analyse the data, run the simulation, fix the model, produce the report. Each task has an environment with files and tools, an instruction, and a check a program can run to decide whether the result is correct. Your job is the expertise, not the code. You describe real episodes from your work (the instrument quirk nobody documents, the month-end rule, the result that looks right and is not), say what a correct result looks like, and flag where a smart newcomer would go wrong. Much of this is captured through an AI-guided interview, and you work in a pair with a software engineer who builds the environment and tests. You also review the finished task for correctness in your field and swap any confidential or unpublished data for realistic made-up examples.

Who fits

The ad names six tracks:

  • Life sciences: bioinformatician or computational biologist who writes Python or R; MSc/PhD or 3–5 years of practice
  • Physical sciences and chemistry: analytical or computational chemist, physicist or earth scientist who uses code; MSc/PhD with lab or simulation practice
  • Formal methods and algorithms: mathematician or computer scientist (Lean/Coq, olympiad, operations research); MSc/PhD
  • Operations: 5+ years in claims, insurance, trade compliance, logistics, planning or marketing analytics, with some automation of your own job
  • Hardware and robotics: mechanical, electrical or robotics engineer with scripted CAD, Verilog or ROS/Drake
  • Media: music theorist with a graduate degree, or audio/DSP engineer with an MSc/PhD

Across all tracks: proven hands-on experience, part of your work done on a computer, and comfortable reading and writing English. Publications with code, open-source work, competition results and command-line familiarity are nice to have.

What it pays

$20–100 per approved task (Vetto lists the unit as per package). The ad does not define a package beyond "task" and does not say what drives a task toward the top or bottom of the range, nor how long a task takes, so the hourly equivalent is unknown. Weekly payouts are shown on the listing.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • You do not need to be a software engineer; an engineer partner builds the environment
  • Work draws on your real field experience
  • Remote and task-based

Less good:

  • Pay only on approved tasks, so rejected work earns nothing
  • A fivefold range with no stated criteria
  • The ad gives no volume of tasks, hours or start date
