How it works

Argos's careers site offers two routes for contract work. The Freelance and Agency network is for linguists, reviewers and partner agencies. The Data Community is described as flexible project work on multilingual data and has its own sign-up. The careers page shows an Apply now button but does not describe the screening steps.

Worth knowing

Good:

• The Data Community is built around flexible, project-based work rather than a fixed schedule
• Argos is an established language services firm with offices in several countries, so it is a real operating company

Less good:

• Argos publishes no pay rates for freelancers or Data Community members
• The careers page does not say which roles are remote or whether freelancers must live in a particular country
• Application and screening steps are not described publicly
