What is gold task?
A hidden test task with a known answer, mixed into normal work to measure accuracy. Missing too many can remove you from a project.
A gold task is a test task with a known correct answer, hidden among normal tasks so you cannot tell which is which. Platforms use gold tasks to measure each worker's accuracy continuously, without a separate exam.
How they are used
Your answers on gold tasks are compared with the reference answer. The results feed your quality score, and falling below a threshold can mean fewer tasks, a pay tier change or removal from the project. Some platforms show you the correct answer after a miss, which is a useful way to learn the guidelines.
How to do well on them
There is no trick to spotting them, and trying to is a waste of time. Treat every task as if it were gold: follow the guidelines exactly, check the edge cases, and do not rush the last tasks of a session.
When a gold answer is wrong
Gold answers are written by people and sometimes contain mistakes. Most platforms let you dispute one with a short explanation; a clear, polite dispute that cites the guidelines often succeeds.
Example
A labeler misses three gold tasks in a row on a sentiment project, all sarcastic reviews. The feedback points to the sarcasm rule in section 4, and their accuracy recovers the next day.
