What you'll do

Record yourself reading a provided script, using AfterQuery's step-by-step guide, then upload it where the project tells you to. Per the ad, that is about 15 minutes of effort at most.

The point is to capture Filipino-influenced English in its natural form. Your delivery has to be your real accent; the ad warns that imitated or faked ones are not paid and get removed from the project. Because it says all genders are welcome, there is no voice-type filter to worry about.

Who fits

• Someone whose English is naturally shaped by Filipino speech, not a performed version of it
• A phone or computer with a working microphone
• Comfort following written instructions on your own, in English
• A plus: prior voice recording, narration or audio contribution

What it pays

$50 flat per submission, according to the ad. The board's headline figure is $30/hr, which is what I have entered in the hourly pay fields. Since the ad describes a single submission rather than hours, treat $50 as the actual offer and $30/hr as the board's label.

Worth knowing

Good:

• Light, one-off task with a clear end
• Fixed payment per recording
• No qualifications beyond your accent and a microphone

Less good:

• The cap is 3 to 5 speakers for the Filipino accent, so a late application may find the spots gone
• A submission judged to use a put-on accent goes unpaid
• Nothing in the ad covers when the money arrives or whether more work follows
