Skills
  • video annotation
  • audio annotation
  • data labeling
  • content moderation
  • guideline-based evaluation
  • written feedback

What you'll do

Short clips, high volume. You watch and listen to short video and audio clips and label them against project guidelines, then do two kinds of checking on top:

  • Description accuracy: an AI has written a description of the clip, and you judge whether it is accurate and appropriate, noting what it got wrong or left ambiguous
  • Moderation: you check the clip against defined content standards and flag anything uncertain or inappropriate, with a written reason

Consistency across large numbers of submissions is the core of the job. You also confirm guideline questions with project managers, suggest process improvements, and handle all project data under confidentiality rules.

Content warning

Because moderation is part of the scope, some clips will be ones that need flagging. The ad does not say what kinds of content are involved or whether wellbeing support is provided. If that matters to you, ask before you start.

Who fits

  • Video or audio annotation, content labelling or moderation experience, preferred rather than required
  • Clear written English for feedback
  • A good eye and ear for detail, and accuracy at volume
  • Comfort working alone and adjusting to changing guidelines
  • Familiarity with guideline-based evaluation and QA
  • Discretion with sensitive material

No prior AI experience is required. This is one of the more accessible entry points on micro1's board.

What it pays

$8–10/hour, micro1's published band. That is low by the standards of this site and aimed at a global contributor pool; for comparison, micro1's robotics Video Annotation Specialist listing pays $50–90/hour for a more specialised brief. No weekly hours, duration or pay mechanism is published.

Worth knowing

Good:

Less good:

  • $8–10/hour is very low pay in most high-cost countries
  • Moderation means exposure to content you may not want to see
  • Repetitive, volume-driven work
  • No hours, duration or pay mechanism stated
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits and your own tax to manage
