What you'll do
You read one short script aloud, following a step-by-step recording guide, and submit the recording through the platform AfterQuery designates. The ad puts the work at about 15 minutes or less. What is wanted is your natural English as an Indonesian speaker, with the Indonesian influence intact; the point of the exercise is to capture that accent as it really sounds.
The ad is firm about authenticity: an imitated or faked accent is not paid and is removed from the project.
Who fits
- A smartphone or computer with a microphone
- Enough English to follow simple written instructions on your own
- A genuine Indonesian-influenced English accent (all genders welcome)
Preferred, not required: earlier voice recording, narration or audio contribution experience.
What it pays
$50 flat for a single recording submission. The board lists the role at $30/hr, but the ad's own text describes a flat fee for roughly 15 minutes of work, and that fee is the figure to plan around. The ad does not say how long review of a submission takes or when the $50 is paid, so check the AfterQuery company page for how payouts generally run.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A very small time commitment, with a clear, fixed fee
- No audio production background needed
- The ad names the whole job up front: record, follow the guide, submit
Less good:
- Only 3 to 5 speakers are being accepted for the Indonesian accent, so the window may close quickly
- A single submission, not ongoing work; the ad promises nothing after it
- The ad does not describe an assessment or ID check for this role; AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and identity verification for its wider expert pools, covered on the company page
- Independent contractor terms apply
