What you'll do

Record yourself reading a short script, following the supplied guide, and submit it. For this listing the voice AfterQuery is collecting is Japanese-influenced English, and the ad spends as many words on what disqualifies a submission as on the task itself: an accent that is put on, rather than your own, is not paid for and is taken out of the project.

What it pays

$50 flat per recording submission, for work the ad sizes at about 15 minutes or less. The $30/hr on the board is a headline figure and does not match how the ad pays. Divided over a 15-minute job, $50 would be well above that headline, but only if one submission is accepted as written, so treat the per-hour comparison with caution.

Worth knowing

Good:

• Short and self-contained, with a stated flat fee
• The ad asks for nothing beyond a mic and your own accent

Less good:

• A tight cap: only 3 to 5 speakers are taken for the Japanese accent
• No follow-on work is promised
