What you'll do
Welsh is one of the rarest languages you will see on an AI training board. Public bodies in Wales have to offer services in Welsh, so there is real demand for support bots that handle it, yet there is little Welsh text for models to learn from. Typical failures are things a native speaker spots instantly: missed or wrong mutations (Caerdydd becoming yng Nghaerdydd), English word order carried over, or tech terms borrowed where an established Welsh term exists.
The job is to review AI-generated coding and technical customer service outputs (virtual agent responses, JSON structures, audio-related content and other technical materials) for accuracy, clarity and guideline alignment, and write feedback. The listing asks for familiarity with natural Welsh pronunciation, which suggests some audio review, though it does not say how much. It also does not say whether it prefers northern or southern Welsh.
Who fits
- Native-level Welsh, familiar with pronunciation, phrasing, tone and conventions as used in Wales
- No need to live in the United Kingdom; the listing is explicit
- Strong JSON: read, validate, troubleshoot and spot structural or formatting problems
- Coding knowledge to identify basic logic, syntax or functionality issues
- Ease with detailed guidelines and written feedback
The pool of people who are both fluent Welsh speakers and comfortable with JSON and code is small. If you are one of them (a developer, IT support worker or technical translator working bilingually) you are exactly who this listing is for. No programming language, degree or experience minimum is named.
What it pays
$21.00 an hour, the same as the Dutch, German, Italian, Canadian French, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish versions, so the scarce skill earns no premium. For comparison, most of Invisible's voice and text listings pay $17.
Listing terms: weekly payment via Stripe or Wise, independent contractor basis, your own schedule, no guaranteed minimum work, and no H-1B or STEM OPT contractors.
Getting in
A résumé upload (about 5 minutes) and an unpaid "unlock paid projects" step (about 30 minutes). Do not use LLMs, automation or scripts on your entry; the listing says that may disqualify you.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Very little competition; Welsh AI work is rarely advertised
- No residence requirement, so Welsh speakers elsewhere in the UK or abroad qualify
- Fixed rate, flexible hours, weekly payment terms
Less good:
- No premium for a scarce skill combination
- A small language may mean a small or short project; the listing gives no volume or duration
- Unpaid qualification with no promise of work
- About three months old when we read it
