What you'll do

An AI research organization, not named in the ad, is collecting the ChatGPT histories of heavy users in Indonesia to support model research and evaluation. Mercor handles recruitment and payment.

The work comes in two phases:

• Phase one is a single deliverable. You consent in writing to the organization accessing your personal ChatGPT history, share or link it following their instructions, provide the email on your ChatGPT account, and self-verify eligibility with step-by-step guidance.
• Phase two is ongoing project work on the same program. Completing phase one can lead to an invitation, but it is not guaranteed, and the ad does not describe the phase two tasks.

A required ChatGPT Power User Interest Form sits inside the Mercor application. Incomplete forms mean the application is not considered.

Who qualifies

Every one of these:

• Based in Indonesia, with at least 3–5 years living and studying there
• Native Bahasa Indonesia speaker
• ChatGPT conversations mainly in Bahasa Indonesia
• 40+ conversations over the past nine months
• At least one saved memory on the account
• A personal account more than 3 months old

Work, employer and enterprise accounts are not eligible, nor is any account containing proprietary or confidential material. Eligibility is confirmed by the research organization after consent, and that can take up to two weeks.

What it pays

Mercor publishes $50 per hour and pays weekly via Stripe or Wise. Because phase one is a one-time deliverable rather than timed work, the ad leaves unclear how much that step actually earns. Ask before you consent.

For many Indonesia-based contributors $50 an hour is well above local rates for annotation work, which is a reason to weigh the privacy trade carefully before agreeing.

Think before you share

Your ChatGPT history holds whatever you have used it for: health, finances, personal matters, drafts for work. Review the account before linking it. If you have pasted in documents from an employer, that is the proprietary material the program says it will not accept.

Worth knowing

Good:

• No résumé screen or skills test; your real usage is the qualification
• A possible route into ongoing paid work in phase two

Less good:

• You are sharing private conversations, with no retention terms stated in the ad
• The research organization is unnamed
• The phase one payout is not given as a clear amount
• Verification can take two weeks
• H-1B and STEM OPT holders excluded; independent contractor terms, and projects can end early
