What you'll do
A leading AI lab wants senior marketers to bring real brand and growth judgment into its model training data. The work mixes authoring and grading:
- Help research and engineering teams close gaps in how models handle brand strategy, growth marketing and campaign reasoning
- Design challenging marketing tasks and write well-reasoned solutions grounded in real practice
- Score AI model outputs against structured rubrics, with written feedback on correctness, judgment and reasoning
- Develop and refine the marketing-specific evaluation guidelines and scoring rubrics
- Calibrate with other subject-matter experts for consistency
The phrase "campaign reasoning" matters most. The model can write copy; what it tends to lack is the logic of why a campaign targets this segment, in this channel, with this budget split, and what a CMO would push back on.
Who fits
- 8+ years in marketing (brand strategy, growth or performance marketing) at a recognized top-tier organization; the ad names P&G, Unilever, Nike, Ogilvy, WPP and Omnicom as examples
- Mandatory: prior hands-on experience evaluating LLM or AI outputs against rubrics or structured scoring criteria, which you must describe in your application
- Clear career progression, for example Marketing Manager to Senior Manager to Director or VP
- Reliable availability of at least 35 hours a week on weekdays
- Solid communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
That mandatory AI evaluation requirement is the filter most senior marketers will fail. If you have done rubric-based grading on any platform, spell out the project type, volume and what you scored, not just "AI training experience".
What it pays
$60–80 per hour, Mercor's published band. At 35+ hours a week this is close to full-time income.
How the engagement is structured
The ad calls this a W-2 employment position with Cincinnatus LLC, placed with the lab's extended workforce, and the listing header says part-time. The standard Mercor footer on the same page describes independent contracting with weekly Stripe or Wise payment. The two are incompatible; ask which applies before accepting.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Authoring and rubric design as well as rating
- Substantial, steady hours if you want them
- W-2 status (if confirmed) brings payroll and compliance handled by Cincinnatus
Less good:
- US residents only
- 8+ years at a top-tier brand or agency, plus prior LLM rubric experience, both required
- 35+ weekday hours makes this hard to combine with a marketing job
- Conflicting W-2 and contractor language
- H-1B and STEM OPT holders are excluded, per the Mercor footer
Mercor's Sales and Marketing Expert listing is a remote contract alternative at $60–70/hour with no stated hour minimum.
