Voice Actor: CX Agent Voice Cloning (UK English)

What you'll do

Record roughly four hours of scripted English (conversational, narrative, instructional) for a Mercor client described as a leading AI research lab. Some lines will need alternate takes with a different mood or emphasis. The client uses the recordings to clone your voice for its internal "CX AI Agent". A second session of similar length may follow, but the ad does not promise it.

This is the neutral British slot. Mercor runs a separate Northern UK listing for the same project, restricted to women with a regional accent; this one has no gender restriction and asks instead for a neutral, standard UK English accent, the kind you hear from national newsreaders and bank helplines. It is the broader of the two UK briefs and probably the more competitive.

Who fits

• Native English speaker with a neutral, standard UK accent
• Currently based in the United Kingdom
• A clear, expressive voice; acting, narration or broadcast experience is a plus, not a requirement
• A near-professional home setup: good microphone, pop filter, quiet room
• Command of intonation, diction and emotional range, and accuracy to the script
• About four hours for one session, possibly another later

Preferred: TTS, audiobook, IVR or AI voice dataset work, audio editing in Audacity, Adobe Audition or Reaper, and range across conversational, corporate, energetic and calm reads.

UK voiceover work for telephony, e-learning and corporate video maps closely onto what a customer agent needs. If you already have a showreel in that register, it is the strongest thing you can bring.

What it pays

$50–100 per hour, around $200 to $400 for the session, paid weekly via Stripe or Wise in US dollars. The Northern UK variant pays the same band. The general US variant reaches $150, so the British ceiling is lower for comparable work.

What you are licensing

The right to clone your voice. The ad is direct that you should apply only if you are comfortable with voice cloning, and it limits use of the recordings to the client's internal CX AI agent, with no sale, licensing or reuse for other products, datasets or purposes. What it does not cover: who the client is, how long the clone may be used, whether you can withdraw consent, and whether continued use is paid. UK Equity guidance recommends that performers get those points written into any AI voice agreement; ask for them before you record.

Worth knowing

Good:

• No gender restriction, unlike the Northern UK sibling
• Newcomers with a good voice and setup can apply
• A short, defined engagement
• Written limit on reuse of the recordings
• Weekly Stripe or Wise payment

Less good:

• Your voice may be cloned, and nothing in the ad pays for continued use
• The ad says little about how the voice will be used: no client, no duration, no withdrawal right
• Neutral British voices are plentiful, so competition is likely stiffer than in the regional listings
• About $200–400 per session, with no guarantee of a second
• Paid in USD, so conversion to sterling costs something
• Independent contractor; projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
• H-1B and STEM OPT holders are excluded
