What you'll do
Psychiatrists are scarce in Indonesia relative to its population, so the clinical perspective of one who practises there matters for a model that may end up answering questions no doctor is available for. This role asks you to put that perspective into training data.
According to the ad, you develop and evaluate complex psychiatric case studies built on realistic, culturally specific scenarios; conduct psychological assessments and annotate them in a way that reflects Indonesian psychiatric practice; and write clear analyses in Indonesian and English. You also critique sensitive case content with confidentiality and ethics in mind, help shape frameworks for passing psychiatric information accurately between the two languages, and give feedback on how AI systems evaluate mental health content.
Expect Indonesian-specific judgement calls: how family and community figure in care, how religious interpretations of distress sit alongside clinical ones, and how formal Indonesian differs from the way patients actually speak. The customer is not named.
Who fits
These are listed as "preferred qualifications"; in practice the title asks for a psychiatrist.
- A medical degree (MD, MBBS or equivalent), a completed psychiatry residency and a valid medical licence
- Native Indonesian and advanced English, written and spoken
- Extensive experience of psychiatric assessment, treatment planning and case documentation in Indonesian clinical settings
- Cultural sensitivity and ethical reasoning in complex cases
- Experience writing teaching materials or case studies for education or research
- Interdisciplinary project experience, ideally in technology, research or digital health
- Familiarity with both Western and Indonesian psychiatric frameworks
No AI experience is required, and the ad does not say which country's licence it accepts. Specialist psychiatrists who teach residents or write case material for students are the closest fit.
How it compares
The sister Bilingual Indonesian Psychologist (PhD) listing pays the same $100–200/hour for PhD psychologists, focusing more on evaluating AI output; this one leans on clinical case construction and annotation. Indonesian is also one of the 16 languages on micro1's broader Bilingual Mental Health Expert listing, which takes either credential. The ad does not say whether these listings share a pipeline, so check before applying to more than one.
What it pays
$100–200/hour, the same as the psychologist band. The ad gives no basis for placement within it and no detail on pay structure, weekly hours or duration.
Worth knowing
Good:
- 70 openings for Indonesian-speaking psychiatrists specifically
- Pays for teaching-style case writing as well as review
- Uses clinical experience from Indonesian practice directly
- Remote, with no country restriction on the ad
Less good:
- No premium over PhD psychologists for the medical route
- A 2x spread with no stated basis for placement
- No hours, duration, pay structure or start date published
- Sensitive psychiatric material can be heavy over long sessions
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
