What you'll do
This is the inpatient member of Mercor's multilingual documentation family, and the documents are the hospital ones: H&Ps, daily progress notes and discharge summaries. You check them for accuracy, completeness and clinical soundness, then judge AI-generated inpatient notes against what a practising hospitalist would actually write.
Inpatient notes fail differently from clinic notes. A discharge summary that drops a pending culture, a progress note that copies forward yesterday's plan, an H&P whose assessment does not match its own data: these are the kinds of errors that someone who writes these documents every shift catches quickly, and that is the expertise being bought. (The ad does not list specific error types; those are illustrations of the judgment involved.)
Alongside review you annotate inpatient encounter data against detailed guidelines, flag omissions, hallucinations, inaccuracies and gaps, and write structured feedback engineering and product teams can act on. You also contribute to the guidelines and edge-case definitions and raise questions where guidance is ambiguous.
The client is an unnamed healthcare AI partner building clinical documentation and decision-support tools.
Who fits
- MD, hospitalist or internal medicine, with 2+ years post-residency and a current inpatient practice
- US-based
- Hands-on experience writing and reading at least one of: H&Ps, progress notes, discharge summaries
- At least 10 hours a week
- Beyond English, C1 or higher speaking, listening and writing in one of: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Russian, Haitian Creole, Korean, Arabic, Portuguese, Polish, Japanese, Turkish, Italian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Finnish, French, Danish, Catalan, Hungarian, Czech, German, Bulgarian, Indonesian or Dutch
Preferred: 5+ years post-residency, Epic familiarity, prior AI annotation or model evaluation with strong reviews, and experience documenting care in a language other than English.
Many hospitalists work block schedules, and the ad says scheduling is flexible and built around active practice. Ten hours a week averaged over a seven-on, seven-off rotation is realistic in a way that ten hours every week of a clinic schedule sometimes is not.
What it pays
$170 per hour, a flat figure. That is the bottom of the $170–190 band on the primary care variant and the specialist outpatient listing, so inpatient work pays the same or slightly less here. At the 10-hour minimum that is about $1,700 a week. Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise, as an independent contractor.
Worth knowing
Good:
- $170/hour flat, with no uncertainty about placement
- A broad 25-language list, so many bilingual hospitalists qualify
- Flexible hours that can fit around block scheduling
- No prior AI experience required
Less good:
- Up to $20/hour less than the outpatient siblings for comparable work
- Current inpatient practice is required, so nocturnists who have left or retired hospitalists are out
- MD is stated and DO is not mentioned
- US-based only; H-1B and STEM OPT candidates cannot be supported
- Contractor engagement; projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
