What you'll do
Psychiatry in the Russian-speaking world grew out of a hospital-centred, strongly biological tradition, with its own diagnostic habits, its own route through the psychoneurological dispensary, and a level of stigma that keeps many people away from a psychiatrist until things are serious. An AI system that knows psychiatry mainly through American textbooks will misjudge both the presentations and the care pathway. You supply the Russian clinical picture.
The ad lists the work as developing and evaluating complex psychiatric case studies built on realistic, culturally specific scenarios; carrying out assessments and adding expert annotations that reflect Russian psychiatric practice; and writing precise analyses in both Russian and English. You also review sensitive case material with confidentiality and ethics in mind, help build frameworks for carrying psychiatric information accurately between the two languages, and give feedback on how AI systems evaluate mental health content. The customer is not named.
Who fits
micro1 lists these as preferred qualifications, though psychiatric training is clearly the core:
- A medical degree (MD, MBBS or equivalent), a completed psychiatry residency and a valid medical licence
- Native Russian and advanced English, written and spoken
- Extensive experience of psychiatric assessment, treatment planning and case documentation in Russian clinical settings
- Cultural sensitivity and ethical reasoning in complex mental health cases
- A background writing teaching materials or case studies for education or research
- Interdisciplinary project experience, ideally in technology, research or digital health
- Familiarity with both Western and Russian psychiatric frameworks
No AI background is needed, and the ad does not say which country's licence counts. Russian-trained psychiatrists complete ordinatura rather than a residency by that name; the ad's "or equivalent" wording on the degree suggests equivalent training is accepted, but it does not say so for the residency. Psychiatrists who have practised in Russia or another Russian-speaking country and now work abroad, and so know both frameworks first-hand, match the description closely.
How it compares
The sister Bilingual Russian Psychologist (PhD) listing pays the same $100–200/hour for psychologists with a doctorate and is weighted towards reviewing AI output; this one asks for a medical degree and centres on building and annotating cases. Russian also appears on micro1's broader Bilingual Mental Health Expert listing at the same band; the ad does not say whether the postings share an applicant pool. micro1's Russian Bilingual Expert speech-rating role pays $30–65/hour, for scale.
What it pays
$100–200/hour, micro1's published band. The ad does not explain placement within it and states no pay structure, weekly hours or project length.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Marked new and high demand, with 70 openings
- Values Russian clinical experience specifically
- Case-writing work suits psychiatrists who teach or supervise
- Remote, with no country restriction on the ad
Less good:
- Same band as the PhD psychologist listing, with no premium for medical training
- A 2x spread with no published basis for placement
- No hours, duration, pay structure or start date stated
- Detailed psychiatric case material can be heavy going
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
