What you'll do
Mental illness in Vietnam often reaches a doctor through the body first: insomnia, headaches and exhaustion, with labels such as neurasthenia still familiar to patients, and with family closely involved in decisions about care. An AI system trained mostly on English-language psychiatry will read those presentations through the wrong lens. Your job is to give it the Vietnamese clinical picture.
The ad lists the work as developing and evaluating complex psychiatric case studies built on realistic, culturally specific scenarios; carrying out assessments and adding expert annotations that reflect Vietnamese psychiatric practice; and writing precise analyses in both Vietnamese and English. You also review and critique sensitive case material with confidentiality and ethics in mind, help build frameworks for carrying psychiatric information accurately between the two languages, and give feedback on how AI systems evaluate mental health content. The customer is not named.
Who fits
micro1 calls these preferred qualifications, though the title makes psychiatric training the core of it:
- A medical degree (MD, MBBS or equivalent), a completed psychiatry residency and a valid medical licence
- Native Vietnamese and advanced English, written and spoken
- Extensive experience of psychiatric assessment, treatment planning and case documentation in Vietnamese clinical settings
- Cultural sensitivity and ethical reasoning in complex mental health cases
- A background writing teaching materials or case studies for education or research
- Interdisciplinary project experience, ideally in technology, research or digital health
- Familiarity with both Western and Vietnamese psychiatric frameworks
No AI background is needed, and the ad does not say which country's licence counts. Because it asks for experience inside Vietnamese clinical settings, a Vietnamese-speaking psychiatrist trained and working only abroad may be a weaker match than the language alone suggests. Psychiatrists at teaching hospitals who already write case material for residents are the clearest fit.
How it compares
The sister Bilingual Vietnamese Psychologist (PhD) listing pays the same $100–200/hour and leans towards evaluating AI output; this one asks for a medical degree and centres on building and annotating cases. Vietnamese also appears on micro1's broader Bilingual Mental Health Expert listing at the same band, and the ad does not say whether the postings share an applicant pool. For scale, micro1's Vietnamese Bilingual Expert speech-rating role pays $30–65/hour.
What it pays
$100–200/hour, micro1's published band. The ad does not explain placement within it, and it states no pay structure, weekly hours or project length.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Marked new and high demand, with 70 openings
- Values Vietnamese clinical experience specifically, not generic psychiatry
- Case-writing work suits psychiatrists who already teach
- Remote, with no country restriction on the ad
Less good:
- Pays the same band as the PhD psychologist listing despite the longer medical training
- A 2x spread with no published basis for placement
- No hours, duration, pay structure or start date stated
- Detailed psychiatric case material can be heavy going
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
