What you'll do

This is micro1's contract-redlining template pointed at deal documents. Instead of the MSAs and NDAs of its tech-transactions listings, the skills tagged here are M&A, SPAs and APAs: purchase agreements, where the fights are over reps and warranties, indemnity baskets and caps, and closing conditions.

The tasks:

  • Simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises
  • Reviewing AI responses to contract scenarios and giving expert feedback
  • Writing objective evaluation frameworks and grading criteria for AI performance on contract tasks
  • Working with product and research teams on data and guidelines

It is described as a part-time role.

Who qualifies

Required:

  • A JD from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active bar admission in at least one US jurisdiction
  • At least two years in the M&A department of a corporate law firm
  • Familiarity with standard M&A agreements, including APAs and SPAs
  • Strong communication, analytical ability and attention to detail
  • Interest in law and technology; cross-disciplinary team experience

Preferred: prior AI or legal tech exposure, and experience working with private equity firms.

Two years is a low bar by the standards of micro1's legal listings, which makes this one of the more accessible options for mid-level associates.

What it pays

$90–130/hour, but the ad is explicit that pay is task-based: you are paid per completed task that meets the project specifications, the average handling time is about 3.5 hours per task, and your effective hourly rate depends on how many tasks you complete and get signed off.

What that means in practice:

  • Rejected work is unpaid, and no sign-off rate is published
  • Your first tasks will likely run over the average while you learn the spec
  • If the band is reached at the 3.5-hour average, a signed-off task works out at roughly $315–455. That is our arithmetic on the two published numbers, not a per-task fee stated in the ad

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Only two years of M&A experience required
  • The pay mechanism is spelled out, including handling time
  • 100 openings, newly posted, marked high demand
  • Deal lawyers are rarely targeted by contract-redlining AI work; this one is

Less good:

  • Task-based pay shifts the risk of rejected or slow tasks onto you
  • No per-task fee is published, so the hourly band is a projection
  • Firm M&A experience is required; in-house deal lawyers are not named
  • No project length or start date stated
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage

About this listing

Read on micro1's jobs portal on 24 September 2026, where it was marked new and posted three days earlier. The band, the 100 openings, the two-year requirement and the compensation structure are its published text; the per-task figure is our arithmetic. It shares its pay model with micro1's General Counsel listing. See micro1.
