What you'll do
You are the voice and the engineer at once. You record Dutch speech from prompts and scenarios, on your own professional setup, and deliver files that meet the project's specification for clarity, accuracy and format. The aim is breadth: many prompts covering varied linguistic ground, so a speech model hears Dutch the way it is really spoken.
The process starts with a sample. You submit a recording that shows both your voice and what your equipment can do, and the ad warns that you will need the professional equipment during the interview itself, so a borrowed microphone on the day is not a workaround. After that the job is iterative: take feedback on recordings, re-record where asked, and document your process so the dataset stays consistent.
The ad asks for "an authentic accent" without saying whether Netherlands Dutch or Flemish is wanted. If you are Belgian, ask before investing in the sample.
Who fits
- Native-level Dutch with an authentic accent and excellent fluency
- At least three years of hands-on professional audio recording, ideally voice, broadcast or content production
- Access to and command of professional equipment: studio microphone, soundproofing, editing software
- Care over file management, labelling and secure transfer
- Experience delivering on remote, distributed projects
No AI experience is required. The ad does not state an English level.
What it pays
$20–40/hour, micro1's published band, the same as its German and Italian recording listings. The floor is low for someone bringing both a trained voice and their own studio; the ad does not explain what moves you up the band, and it does not say whether rates are per recorded hour or per working hour.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A real use for a home studio and a voice-work background
- 21 openings
- Clear deliverables: files either meet the spec or they do not
- Remote, with no country restriction on the listing
Less good:
- You supply the equipment, soundproofing and software at your own cost
- $20 is a low floor for a three-year professional requirement
- Accent variety (Netherlands or Flemish) is not specified
- The listing has been up about two months, so check it is still hiring actively
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
