What you'll do
The tasks follow micro1's contract-redlining template: simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises, reviewing how an AI handles the same contract scenarios, writing the objective evaluation frameworks and grading criteria used to score it, and working with product and research teams on data and guidelines. It is part-time.
How this differs from the other General Counsel listing
micro1 runs two General Counsel postings at the same band with the same pay model. The difference is one document type. This newer one asks for in-house technology-transactions experience negotiating MSAs, NDAs, ISDAs and DPAs, and tags ISDAs as a required skill. The older General Counsel listing stops at MSAs, NDAs and DPAs.
An ISDA Master Agreement and its Schedule are derivatives paper, not ordinary tech contracts, so the ideal profile here is a general counsel or senior in-house lawyer at a fintech, trading or treasury-heavy company who has handled both vendor contracts and the derivatives documentation. If you have never negotiated an ISDA Schedule or CSA, the older listing is the better fit.
Who qualifies
Required:
- At least three years of in-house experience focused on technology transactions, particularly negotiating MSAs, NDAs, ISDAs and DPAs
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and attention to detail
- The ability to turn legal expertise into feedback AI teams can use
- Interest in law and technology; experience in fast-paced, cross-disciplinary teams
Preferred: prior exposure to AI, legal tech or training initiatives.
No JD, bar admission or jurisdiction is listed.
What it pays
$90–130/hour, task-based: you are paid per completed task that meets the project specifications, the average handling time is roughly 3.5 hours per task, and your effective hourly rate depends on how many tasks are completed and signed off.
So rejected work earns nothing, and slow early tasks cost you. If the band is reached at the average handling time, a signed-off task works out at roughly $315–455; that is our arithmetic, not a fee the ad publishes.
Worth knowing
Good:
- The pay mechanism is spelled out
- No bar admission or law school requirement listed
- 100 openings, newly posted, marked high demand
- ISDA experience is scarce, which should help candidates who have it
Less good:
- Task-based pay puts the risk of rejection and overruns on you
- No sign-off rate or per-task fee is published
- The ISDA requirement narrows the pool sharply
- No project length or start date stated
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
About this listing
Read on micro1's jobs portal on 24 September 2026, where it was marked new and posted three days earlier. The title is micro1's "General Counsel"; we added "(ISDAs)" to distinguish it from the older posting of the same name. micro1 also runs an In-House Counsel (ISDAs and Derivatives) listing on the same band.
