What you'll do
This is linguist work rather than transcription. You judge Korean content for accuracy, clarity and cultural fit, write new Korean material where the project needs it, and check text and recorded speech for natural usage and correct idiom. Alongside that you add detailed linguistic annotations and written feedback that the AI team uses to improve how the model handles Korean.
The ad also lists translation and localisation between Korean and English, with an explicit instruction to put contextual meaning ahead of literal rendering. In Korean that mostly means getting speech levels and honorifics right: the same English sentence can come out polite, intimate or oddly stiff depending on who is speaking to whom, and a model that picks the wrong register sounds foreign immediately. You also help shape the project's language guidelines and the data collection and annotation process, and take part in regular written and spoken check-ins about progress and problems. The customer is not named.
Who fits
micro1 lists all of these as preferred qualifications:
- Native or near-native Korean and advanced English
- A background in linguistics, translation, localisation or a related language field
- Professional experience with language data or content review
- Careful written and spoken communication in both languages
- The ability to give clear, constructive linguistic feedback
- Familiarity with language technology, digital content platforms or AI projects (a plus)
- Strong intercultural awareness of how Korean is actually used
No AI background is required. The ad accepts near-native Korean, so a fluent non-native linguist is not ruled out on paper, though the review and localisation tasks reward an instinct for register that usually comes from native use.
How it differs from the other Korean listing
micro1 already runs a Korean Language Expert listing under the same name at $20–36/hour. That one is audio transcription: writing out Korean and English speech, proofreading it and tagging metadata. This one has no transcription in its scope; it is content evaluation, generation, annotation, translation and guideline work, and it asks for a language-field background. The pay reflects that: the floor here is nearly twice the other listing's ceiling. If you are a translator or trained linguist, this is the one to apply for.
What it pays
$65–98/hour, micro1's published band. The ad does not explain how placement within the band is decided, and it does not state weekly hours, project length or whether pay is per hour worked or per task.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Roughly three times the rate of micro1's Korean transcription work
- Translators, localisers and linguists all fit the stated background
- Marked new and high demand, with 10 openings
- Remote, with no country restriction on the ad
Less good:
- The scope is broad (review, writing, translation, guidelines, meetings) and the ad does not say how time splits between them
- Regular verbal check-ins mean some scheduled calls, not purely asynchronous work
- No hours, duration, pay structure or start date stated
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
About this listing
Posted by micro1 on its own jobs portal and confirmed open on 2 October 2026, when it was marked new and flagged as high demand. The $65–98/hour band, the 10 openings, the scope of work and the qualifications above are micro1's published text. We added the pay figure to the title only to tell it apart from the earlier listing with the same name. See micro1.
