What you'll do
You litigate a simulated commercial real estate dispute over several rounds. Each round you produce authentic work product (a motion, brief, demand letter or discovery set) in response to how the dispute has moved, then submit it for senior review, the same way an associate hands a draft to a partner. Feedback comes back, and the next draft has to absorb it without needing to be told twice.
With every draft you also document rubric items that spell out what a strong response to opposing counsel's latest submission would contain. The case theory and litigation posture have to stay coherent across turns, and when a procedural question or a missing fact would change the answer, you flag it for the lead rather than filling the gap yourself.
The substance is specifically commercial real estate: leases, transactions, development, landlord and tenant disputes, zoning, and financing or security interests. A general commercial litigator without CRE matters on the CV is not the target; micro1 runs a separate commercial contract version of this listing for that.
Who fits
- An active or lapsed US law licence, admitted in at least one US jurisdiction
- At least three years of post-JD litigation with real drafting, discovery and motion practice (the ad says explicitly: not solely transactional work)
- A background in commercial real estate litigation across the areas above
- The ability to draft complex litigation documents under direction
- Excellent written English and command of legal register
Firm experience (BigLaw, boutique or mid-market) across several matter types, federal court commercial litigation, and prior AI legal projects are pluses. The ad states the location as Remote, US-based.
What it pays
$100/hour, a single figure, the same as micro1's commercial contract and shareholder/LLC variants of this template. The ad does not say how turns are counted or whether pay is per hour or per task.
Timing
micro1 says it typically fills these roles within 48 hours and expects selected experts to start first tasks within 24–48 hours of onboarding. Three openings makes this the widest door of the three litigation variants, but it is still a small hire.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A flat, published $100 rate
- CRE litigation is a niche, and this listing names it precisely
- A lapsed licence qualifies
- Real drafting and strategy, close to actual practice
- Three openings, more than the other variants
Less good:
- The CRE requirement is specific; transactional real estate lawyers are excluded by name
- A 48-hour fill window leaves little time to decide
- No weekly hours or project length stated
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
