  • linguistic annotation

  • audio editing software
  • data privacy

What you'll do

You turn Norwegian audio and video into accurate written text, then review and edit it to strict spelling, grammar and formatting standards. Speech segments get annotated and categorised to the project's guidelines, and when a passage is unclear you flag it, adding context or a suggested reading where you can.

Norwegian has a complication most languages do not: two written standards (Bokmål and Nynorsk), and everyday speech dominated by dialect. The ad does not say which written standard the project uses, so that is worth asking early, because it decides how every dialect utterance gets written down.

The ad also puts weight on confidentiality. You handle the material securely and follow the customer's data privacy rules throughout.

Who fits

Listed as preferred:

  • Native or near-native Norwegian, with excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Experience in transcription, linguistic annotation or related language work
  • Precise, context-aware accuracy
  • Clear written and spoken communication, and prompt responses
  • Familiarity with transcription tools, audio editing software or annotation platforms, as an advantage
  • Steady, high-quality output against milestones
  • Openness to feedback as the project changes

What it pays

$20–35/hour, micro1's published band, matching its Finnish Transcription Expert listing and a little wider than its Danish Transcription Expert ($24–30/hour). Placement within the range is not explained.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A small language market, so fewer competing applicants
  • "Near-native" is accepted, which opens it to fluent non-native speakers
  • No AI experience needed
  • Editing and review as well as raw transcription

Less good:

  • 10 openings only
  • The Bokmål or Nynorsk question is not answered in the ad
  • Weekly hours, project length and customer are not stated
  • Contractor terms, with no benefits
