Norwegian Language Expert
What you'll do
You read what an AI model wrote in Norwegian and decide whether a careful native reader would accept it. That means catching mistranslations, stiff literal phrasing, the wrong register (formal versus informal), unsupported claims and plain grammar or spelling slips, then explaining each problem in written English feedback. You also write the answer the model should have given, and rank several model responses against each other. Prompts span general knowledge, customer support, education and conversational writing.
Who fits
- Native or near-native Norwegian, strong in reading and writing
- C1 English or better, because guidelines and feedback are in English
- A relevant degree (linguistics, literature, communications, journalism, translation) or equivalent professional experience
- 3+ years in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism or education
- Comfort with Bokmål, Nynorsk or both; the ad asks you to say which you can support
- Prior AI training, translation QA or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred, not required
The listing is open to applicants in Norway only.
What it pays
The ad states up to $55 an hour, paid as an hourly contract. That is the ceiling, not a guaranteed rate, and the ad does not say how an individual rate is set. It is the lower of the two Norwegian listings from this employer; the team lead role tops out at $60.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Norwegian is a small language for AI data work, so the pool of qualified native reviewers is thin
- You choose which written standard you cover, which suits a Nynorsk specialist as much as a Bokmål one
- Hourly rate, fully remote
Less good:
- The ad says there is no immediate project for this role; qualified applicants are among the first contacted when work arises, so this is a place in an expert pool rather than a seat on a live project.
- Applicants outside Norway are excluded
- Up to $55 is a cap; the ad gives no floor, hours or project length
About this listing
Posted on SME Careers, the hiring site SuperAnnotate uses for expert contractors, and read from its jobs board on 27 October 2026. The board gives no posting date, so we have not stated one. The comparison with the team lead listing is ours; the pay and requirements are SME's own. The hiring process, Deel contracting and monitoring rules are covered on the company page.
