What you'll do
You read tax law scenarios the way you would a client's fact pattern: find the issues, weigh the risks, and reach a defensible position. Then you review analyses, arguments and documents an AI has produced on similar problems, and mark where they go wrong: a misapplied rule, an unsupported conclusion, a fact the model ignored, a step in the reasoning that does not follow.
Every review ends in structured written feedback and corrections, which is what the customer uses to improve the model. Tax is a good fit for this kind of work because errors are often subtle and consequential (a wrong characterisation, a missed election, a state rule that diverges from the federal one), and a model that sounds confident is not the same as one that is right.
The work is remote contractor work. Weekly hours and project length are not stated.
Who fits
- A J.D. from a US law school
- An active bar license in at least one US state or the District of Columbia
- More than three years of substantive legal practice, preferably in tax
- Strong issue-spotting, legal reasoning and document review
- Clear written English and close attention to detail
Federal or state tax work, compliance and planning, IRS matters, tax disputes or complex tax transactions are preferred, and an LL.M. in Taxation is a plus. A CPA without a JD does not meet the bar here.
What it pays
$100–170/hour, micro1's published band. The ad does not say what places you in the band or whether pay is for time or per task.
Worth knowing
Good:
- 50 openings, flagged high demand
- Three years of practice is a lower bar than many legal AI listings at this pay
- Both transactional tax and controversy experience fit the brief
- Review-and-feedback work fits around a practice better than drafting projects
Less good:
- US residence and an active US license are both required
- No hours, project length or compensation structure published
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage (which you will at least know how to do)
- The customer and the product being trained are not named
