What you'll do
This is a production-and-critique role built around the documents a deal team lives in. You evaluate and annotate transaction documents, financial materials and case studies so they can be used as training data, and you draft, review and edit deliverables of the kind an associate signs off on: pitchbooks, valuation models and market analysis summaries.
You also simulate realistic investment scenarios and write them up, so the model learns how a process actually runs rather than how a textbook describes it. A recurring task is written feedback on AI-generated financial content, judged on precision, relevance and professional tone, plus explaining the terminology and unwritten conventions that make banking work read as authentic.
Coordination happens remotely with project coordinators. The ad does not state weekly hours or project length.
Who fits
- Current or recent experience as an Investment Banking Associate (any level), an Analyst in year two or later, or an equivalent Sales & Trading role
- Working fluency in financial modelling, valuation and deal execution
- Comfort reading financial statements, transaction documents and market data quickly and critically
- Clear writing, and the habit of giving feedback someone can act on
- Familiarity with standard deal documentation, regulatory considerations and structuring nuances
- The discipline to run several deliverables to milestones without supervision
All of these are listed as preferred qualifications rather than hard gates. No AI background is asked for.
What it pays
$120–150/hour, micro1's published band for this listing. The ad does not say whether pay is for time or per task, or what places you within the band.
How it differs from the other Investment Banking Associate listing
micro1 already runs an Investment Banking Associate listing at $150–220/hour. That one is about documenting how bankers use finance AI tools such as Rogo or Hebbia and grading AI-assisted workflows. This one pays less and asks for no tool experience: it is classic deal-team output (annotated documents, models, pitchbook pages) plus critique of AI-written finance content. If you have never used a finance AI platform, this is the better fit of the two. For senior M&A bankers, the Investment Banking: M&A Advisory listing posted the same week pays $175–300/hour.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Sales & Trading experience counts, not only coverage or M&A
- Second-year analysts are inside the target profile
- The tasks map directly onto everyday associate work, so the learning curve is short
- New listing with 8 openings
Less good:
- Only 8 openings, so expect competition from a large pool of bankers
- No hours, project length or compensation structure published
- If you are still employed at a bank, check outside-work and confidentiality rules before simulating deal scenarios
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
