Where this sits among micro1's redlining listings
micro1 is running several listings off one contract-redlining template, and this is the senior transactional version. It is near-identical to In-House Counsel (ISDAs and Derivatives): same $90–130/hour band, same task-based pay, same three-year in-house requirement on MSAs, NDAs, ISDAs and derivatives. The one addition is a preference for corporate law firm experience in M&A or fund formation for private equity firms. If your career runs firm-then-in-house on the deal side, this title will match your CV; if you have the in-house years but no firm deal work, the In-House Counsel listing asks for less. For one to three years of experience there is the lower-paid Junior Transactional Attorney.
What you'll do
You work through simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises, then review how an AI model handles contract scenarios and write expert feedback on where it misread risk or language. The senior part is design: you create objective evaluation frameworks and grading criteria for contract tasks, rather than applying someone else's. You also work with product and research teams on the data, guidelines and best practices behind an AI contract review product.
Who fits
- At least three years of in-house experience on technology transactions, particularly negotiating MSAs, NDAs, ISDAs and derivatives
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with close attention to detail
- The ability to translate legal expertise into feedback an AI team can act on
- A demonstrated commitment to law and technology
- Experience on cross-disciplinary teams in fast-paced environments
Preferred: prior exposure to AI, legal tech or training projects, and M&A or PE fund formation work at a corporate law firm. No bar admission, jurisdiction or law school tier is stated, and the location is "Remote".
Note the tension in the title: it says "transactional attorney", but the hard requirement is specifically in-house years. A pure law firm deal lawyer with no in-house time does not meet the stated bar, however strong the M&A record.
What it pays
$90–130/hour as a target, earned per task. Compensation is per completed task that meets the project specifications, with an average handling time of about 3.5 hours; the effective hourly rate depends on tasks completed and signed off. At that average, a signed-off task is worth roughly $315–455, which is our arithmetic rather than a published per-task fee. Rejected work is not paid, and no sign-off rate is stated.
Worth knowing
Good:
- 100 openings, flagged new and high demand
- You design the rubrics, not just apply them
- Part-time by design and fully remote
- The pay mechanism and average task length are published
Less good:
- Pay depends on sign-off; unaccepted tasks earn nothing
- Early tasks will likely run past the 3.5-hour average at your own cost
- The in-house requirement excludes firm-only deal lawyers despite the title
- No start date, weekly hours or project length stated
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
