What you'll do
This is speech data collection, and it has two halves. The first is recording: you read provided sentences aloud in German and in English, following the project's guidelines. Some sessions call for controlled background sound, such as the ambience of a stationary car or an office, and the ad is firm that every recording is made from a stationary location. That pattern (car and office environments, scripted commands) is typical of data for in-car voice assistants and similar systems.
The second half is annotation. You listen to audio clips, transcribe them precisely and give feedback on pronunciation and clarity. You also label and organise audio files with accurate metadata so they meet the platform's submission standards.
The ad is unusually explicit about privacy: you comply with requirements on how voice recordings are stored and used, and follow the consent and data guidelines. Your voice becomes part of a dataset, so read the consent terms before recording anything.
Who fits
- Native-level German with clear articulation and good pronunciation
- English at B2 or higher, for the English recordings and for instructions
- The ability to follow precise audio and content specifications
- Comfort managing your own workflow remotely
- An ear for pronunciation, background noise and data accuracy
No professional studio experience or equipment is listed, which sets this apart from micro1's Audio Recording Expert listings. These are preferred qualifications, and no AI experience is needed.
What it pays
$30–65/hour, micro1's published band, the same as its Japanese + English voice recorder listing and $10 higher at the floor than the Korean one. That is a notably better floor than micro1's language-specific Audio Recording Expert roles ($10–40 ranges), which demand professional gear. The ad does not say what decides placement, and no payment schedule is published.
Worth knowing
Good:
- No stated requirement for professional studio equipment or years of experience
- 80 openings and a "High demand" tag
- A mix of recording and annotation keeps the work varied
- No country restriction stated
Less good:
- Your voice recordings go into a dataset under the project's consent terms; read them first
- The car-environment sessions need access to a car you can record in while it is parked
- More than a 2x spread with no published basis for placement
- No weekly hours, project length or volume are stated
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
- The customer is not named
