What you'll do

Chinese-English bilinguals are asked to do the analytical groundwork behind model training. Typical tasks: work out which store location grew most from a monthly sales table (and decide what time window is fair), or solve a rule-based scheduling puzzle, then write the right answer and the reasoning. You also condense long content into logical blocks, validate claims online and write fresh scenarios to test the model.

The ad says "English and Chinese" are both mandatory but does not say which Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese, Simplified or Traditional script). Confirm that before applying.

Who fits

  • Strong English and Chinese (multilingual ability is mandatory)
  • Research and analytical habits, creativity, and clear written communication
  • Comfort giving detailed annotations and constructive feedback
  • Independent remote working with a laptop or desktop and a good connection
  • 40 hours a week available for the contract term, overlapping US hours

Preferred: a degree in engineering, literature, journalism, communications, arts, statistics or related (not mandatory if you have the experience), professional writing or analyst experience, Excel and Google Suite, and basic data and arithmetic skills. No other specialised background is needed.

What it pays

No rate is published in the ad, which promises compensation by experience and expertise. Turing sets rates per project; see Turing.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Remote, flexible hours within the commitment
  • No specialist domain required
  • Contract extension is possible on performance

Less good:

  • Full-time 40-hour ask with no stated duration
  • Two to five hours a day overlapping UTC-8, hard from East Asia, where the evening overlap is the usual workaround
  • No medical or paid leave
  • Pay unknown until matched
