Litigation Attorney (Legal Reasoning Task Design)

micro1: pay and who it accepts · Posted

What you'll do

You design the legal problems that measure what AI systems can actually do. Starting from a complex fact pattern of the kind you handle in practice, you build the task with realistic supporting materials, write the correct analysis and set out the reasoning behind it. You also define what makes an answer right, so another attorney would reach the same verdict. You review tasks built by other attorneys for accuracy and soundness, and flag any that turn out ambiguous or ungradable. The ad estimates about 8 hours to create one task.

What you need

  • A J.D. and an active U.S. bar license in good standing
  • 3–15 years of practice, currently in litigation, corporate, real estate, bankruptcy or compliance work
  • English at C1 or above

Nice to have

  • A strong preference for seasoned litigators
  • Judicial clerkship experience
  • Law school teaching or instruction experience
  • Law review or journal editorial experience
  • Prior experience on legal AI or legal data projects

No prior AI experience is required.

What it pays

micro1 lists $80–150/hour equivalent, but pay is per approved task, not per hour. At about 8 hours per task, what you earn depends on how many tasks pass review. Ask what a single approved task pays and what the rejection rate looks like.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A high band for creative legal work you can do around your practice
  • Flexible commitment and remote
  • 40 openings, flagged "High demand"
  • Draws on your own cases and judgment

Less good:

  • Unapproved tasks are not paid, so effort can go unrewarded
  • Roughly 8 hours of up-front work per task
  • Open to U.S.-licensed attorneys only
  • Screening includes an AI interview

How it differs from the sibling listing

micro1's other Litigation Attorney listing, also at $80–150/hour, describes drafting pleadings, motions and briefs and a weekly minimum. This one is about designing and reviewing reasoning tasks, and pays per approved task.
