What you'll do

You turn the analysis work you do every day into evaluation material. The ad lists experiments, metrics, forecasting, segmentation and predictive modeling as source topics. You author a realistic problem, work it through to a reference answer with the reasoning behind each step, and catch analysis mistakes that look reasonable but only a practitioner would spot. The problems feed the evaluations frontier AI labs use to measure their models.

The ad is clear about who it is not for: data engineers, ML engineers and reporting-only analysts.

Who fits

  • A Master's or PhD in statistics, computer science, economics, mathematics or another quantitative field
  • 3+ years full time as a data scientist; internships and school do not count
  • Strong SQL and Python or R
  • Hands-on statistics: A/B testing, regression, causal inference or predictive modeling
  • At least 10 hours a week available

Preferred: experience on a product, growth or marketplace team, experience designing and reading out experiments, and clear written English with comfort explaining an analysis step by step.

What it pays

The board shows $115/hr and the ad text states no range, so that is the figure. Payment is weekly via Stripe. The ad says it is fully remote and async with no fixed hours; it does not state a weekly minimum beyond the 10 hour requirement in the qualifications, nor does it mention monitoring software.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Work stays in your specialty and is judged on analytical judgment, not volume
  • You set your own hours and scale up or down week to week
  • Weekly payment
  • A clear single hourly figure

Less good:

  • A strict title and experience bar: three full years as a data scientist, with a graduate degree
  • The ad does not describe its hiring process; AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid one-attempt assessment and ID verification, covered on the company page
  • A fixed expectation of at least 10 hours a week
