What you'll do
You build and review paralegal-style problems that test whether an AI model can do the support work a legal team relies on. The ad lists the topics: legal research, citation formats, document drafting, discovery management, trial preparation, client communication and case file organization. You write the questions and case studies, then judge model answers and give detailed feedback on accuracy and adherence to paralegal best practice.
You also work with a team of legal and technical experts to tune how hard the questions are, so that content is challenging without becoming unanswerable.
Who fits
- An associate degree or certificate in Paralegal Studies, or a bachelor's degree with paralegal certification
- Proven experience as a paralegal, with a solid grasp of legal research, document preparation and case management
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
Preferred: multiple years across practice areas (litigation, corporate, real estate, family law), involvement in legal technology or training initiatives, advanced certifications (CP, ACP, RP), and familiarity with AI tools. Unlike AfterQuery's attorney roles, no JD or bar admission is asked for.
What it pays
The board shows $55/hr. The ad text states no range, so $55/hr is the only figure. The ad does not publish its payment terms; AfterQuery's general payment approach is described on its company page.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A route into AI work that does not need a law degree
- Remote and asynchronous, on your own schedule
- Work that draws on everyday paralegal skills such as citation and file organization
Less good:
- This is one of AfterQuery's older postings, dated March 2026, and it is written in a looser style than the newer law ads; it does not state a minimum weekly commitment or hiring steps
- Hours, payment schedule and monitoring policy are not given in the ad
- Independent contractor engagement is typical for AfterQuery, though this ad does not spell it out
- AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and ID verification for its pools; check the company page before you apply
