What you'll do

DaVinci Resolve started as a colour-grading system and grew into a full editing suite. Mercor's listing is for people who use it on a Mac for exactly that: colorists, video editors and post-production professionals doing grading and editing.

The ad sets the environment and leaves out the work. You need Resolve installed on your own Mac running macOS, openable today, and a screen that produces high-resolution captures. What you will actually do is not published. The "Application Users" format points to recording real workflows (node-based grading on the Color page, timeline edits, Fairlight or Deliver settings) for training AI agents that operate creative software; that is our reading, not the ad's text.

Resolve is dense, with separate pages for each stage of post. Someone who moves between Edit, Color and Deliver fluidly is the profile; a user who only trims clips on the Cut page may not be.

Who fits

  • DaVinci Resolve installed on your own Mac; no licence, VM or hardware supplied (the ad does not say whether the free version is acceptable or Studio is needed)
  • Real-world grading or editing experience
  • Screenshots above 2.5 megapixels. The ad names the MacBook Pro 14" and 16" built-in displays as qualifying; otherwise one high-resolution external monitor or two 1080p-plus monitors spanned together

No degree, reel, years or country requirement is published.

What it pays

$30–40 per hour, the Generalist band shared with Blender, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, Unreal Engine and FL Studio listings. That is the lowest tier in the family ($45–55 STEM, $55–65 Code, $60–70 Professionals), though for freelance editors it is a predictable hourly rate compared with project fees.

Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise, based on services rendered.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Low barrier if you use the free edition of Resolve
  • Mac colorists are a smaller pool than Windows Premiere editors
  • 5 hires shown this month when we checked
  • Remote and self-scheduled, weekly pay published

Less good:

  • Bottom pay tier of the family
  • Edition requirement (free vs Studio) is not stated
  • Tasks, hours and duration are not described; projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
  • H-1B and STEM OPT candidates excluded; contractor terms

About this listing
