CAD Expert

Rex.Zone: pay and who it accepts · Posted

What you'll do

You act as a working CAD modeller for AI training. That means giving detailed input on mechanical design, including part and assembly modelling in professional CAD tools, and reviewing geometric models of assemblies and systems. You explain mechanical engineering concepts in both writing and speech, and you evaluate AI-generated CAD answers and scripts for geometric and engineering correctness.

The mention of scripts matters: some of what you grade is code that produces geometry, so telling whether a script yields a valid, manufacturable part is part of the job. The work is remote, with calibration and review sessions. The ad does not state weekly hours.

Who fits

  • A BS or MS in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • Professional CAD modelling experience and a strong understanding of design for manufacture
  • Clear written English
  • Preferred: CSWP or CSWE certification, parametric and assembly modelling at production scale, and simulation or scripting experience

The ad names no specific CAD package and no minimum number of years.

What it pays

Rex.Zone's listing states USD $80–150 per hour, "adjusted by country of residence". The ad does not say how the adjustment works, so the top of the range may not apply where you live. The listing gives no payment method or payout schedule; the Rex.Zone company page covers what is known. This is the highest band of Rex.Zone's three CAD roles, with a floor equal to the top of the Mechanical CAD Expert range, and the higher bar (a degree plus professional modelling experience) is the likely reason.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • One of the highest stated ceilings in the engineering group, at $150
  • Includes spoken explanation as well as writing, which suits people who teach well
  • Grading AI-written CAD scripts is a skill few reviewers have

Less good:

  • A degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is a stated requirement
  • Pay is adjusted by country of residence, and the ad does not say how
  • Export-controlled, military or defence-related technical data and confidential employer material cannot be submitted
  • Submissions can be rejected or removed after verification

About this listing

Read on Rex.Zone's expert portal on 29 October 2026; the pay, requirements and duties are Rex.Zone's own text. The portal marks its listings as open to verified users only, and the ad does not name the end customer. See Rex.Zone.
