What you'll do

Photoshop is probably the most widely known application in Mercor's creative set, and this listing targets its professional core: photographers, retouchers, and graphic and digital designers doing raster editing, retouching and compositing.

The ad does not describe tasks. It requires Photoshop installed on your own Windows PC and open today, plus a display that captures high-resolution screenshots. The client, the work and the hours are not stated. Our reading of the format is that you would carry out and capture genuine editing workflows (layers and masks, adjustment layers, selections, healing and compositing) as training material for AI agents that operate creative software; the ad itself does not say so.

Because Photoshop is so common, "real-world experience" is likely to mean professional-level technique rather than occasional cropping and resizing. Non-destructive layer workflows and clean masking are the kind of fluency worth showing.

Who fits

  • Photoshop installed on your own Windows PC; Mercor provides no licence, VM or hardware
  • Professional retouching, compositing or design experience
  • Screenshots above 2.5 megapixels: a single monitor at 1440p-class or higher (or a 16:10, 3:2 or ultrawide equivalent), or two 1080p-plus monitors spanned together

No degree, portfolio, years or country requirement is stated.

What it pays

$30–40 per hour, the Generalist band shared with Illustrator and Premiere. The Adobe Photography plan is one of the cheaper ways to hold a Photoshop licence, which keeps the setup cost down compared with the STEM listings' specialist software.

Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise, based on services rendered.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • 9 hires shown this month when we checked, second only to Blender among the creative listings we read
  • Relatively cheap licence route for photographers
  • Remote and self-scheduled, weekly pay published

Less good:

  • Lowest pay tier of the family
  • Huge pool of Photoshop users means competition at screening
  • Tasks, hours and duration are not described; projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
  • H-1B and STEM OPT candidates excluded; contractor terms

About this listing
