What you'll do
A Mercor client (a "leading AI research lab", not named) wants a Peruvian woman's voice for its internal "CX AI Agent". You record about four hours of scripts across conversational, narrative and instructional styles, with alternate takes when asked, and the client uses the recordings to clone your voice. A second session of similar length may follow; it is not guaranteed.
Of the Spanish variants in this family, this is the only one restricted by gender, and one of two (with Mexico) that wants a national accent rather than neutral Spanish. Peruvian Spanish, especially the Lima variety, is often described as clear and measured, which suits a customer service voice. The listing showed one hire in the current month when we read it, so recruitment is active.
Who fits
- Female native speaker of Peruvian Spanish
- Currently living in Peru
- A clear, expressive voice; acting, narration or broadcast experience is optional
- A near-professional home setup: good microphone, pop filter, quiet room
- Control of intonation, diction and emotional range, reading exactly what is written
- About four hours for one session, possibly more later
Preferred: TTS, audiobook, IVR or AI voice dataset work, audio editing in Audacity, Adobe Audition or Reaper, and range across conversational, corporate, energetic and calm reads.
Radio locución, call-centre training and e-learning narration are all relevant background.
What it pays
$50–100 per hour in US dollars, about $200 to $400 for the stated session, paid weekly via Stripe or Wise. That is a high hourly rate in Peruvian terms, for a single session rather than ongoing work. Same band as the Mexico, Latin America and Peninsular variants. Check that Stripe or Wise payouts work for your bank before recording; the ad does not address it.
What you are licensing
Your voice, for cloning. The ad asks you to apply only if you accept that, and limits the recordings to the client's internal CX AI agent, with no sale, licensing or reuse for any other product, dataset or purpose. It does not name the client, say how long the clone may be used, describe how to withdraw consent, or mention payment for continued use. Ask for the contract's voice terms in writing before you record.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A Peruvian accent is specifically wanted
- Active: one hire this month when we checked
- USD pay, strong in local terms
- Newcomers with a good voice and setup can apply
- Written limit on reuse of the recordings
Less good:
- Your voice may be cloned, with no mention of payment for ongoing use
- The ad says little about how the voice will be used: no client, no duration, no withdrawal right
- Restricted to women living in Peru
- About $200–400 per session, with no guarantee of a second
- Independent contractor; projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
- H-1B and STEM OPT holders are excluded
