What you'll do
You bring clinical judgment to an AI healthcare project, in Japanese and English. The work covers annotating clinical scenarios, patient cases and healthcare data; reviewing AI-generated medical content for clinical accuracy and relevance; and assessing model outputs against what you see in real practice. Part of the job is translation in the broad sense: turning clinical terminology and workflows into guidance a model can learn from.
The Japanese requirement is the point of this listing. Japanese clinical language has its own conventions, from how charts are written to how kanji-heavy medical terms map onto English ones, and a model that is only checked in English misses them. Expect some collaboration with the customer's data scientists and engineers, and strict data security and privacy rules throughout.
Who fits
- Completed residency with current or recent clinical practice (final-year residents are considered)
- Strength in diagnostic analysis, general medicine, clinical protocols and physiology
- General specialties preferred, such as internal medicine, family practice or emergency medicine; some subspecialties are welcome
- A strong command of clinical terminology, in writing and speech
- Experience with electronic health records, patient data or medical documentation
- Japanese at JLPT N1 or equivalent (native or near-native)
- English at C1 or higher
No prior AI experience is required.
What it pays
micro1 publishes a flat $125/hour. The engagement is a part-time contract with a minimum of roughly 15 hours a week, so the floor commitment works out to around $1,875 a week at the published rate (our arithmetic, not micro1's figure).
Selection and start
The ad sets out four steps: an AI interview of about 35 minutes, a short questionnaire, a client review, then an offer and onboarding. micro1 says first tasks usually start within 24–48 hours of receiving credentials.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A single, unambiguous rate rather than a wide band
- Open worldwide, so Japanese-speaking doctors outside Japan qualify
- Final-year residents are considered
- 30 openings and a fast start once selected
Less good:
- The 15-hour weekly minimum is hard to fit around a full clinical rota
- Both N1 Japanese and C1 English are required, a narrow pool
- The customer and the exact task mix are not named
- Lower than micro1's Medical Doctor - Physician Expert listing at $230/hour, which does not ask for a second language
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
