- read written text aloud smoothly
What you'll do
You get English prompts, read them aloud exactly as written, and upload the recordings. Some prompts are question-style and ask you to read out the answer choices too; the rule is to read, not to answer or interpret. When a take falls short of the quality bar you re-record it, and when a prompt is unclear or broken you flag it rather than guessing.
The hard part is consistency: the same clarity, enunciation and pace across every session, so your recordings from week three sound like your recordings from day one. A smartphone is enough equipment; the room is what matters.
Who fits
- Native or near-native English, spoken clearly and naturally
- Able to read text aloud smoothly, without stumbling or slipping into a monotone
- A consistently quiet space with no background noise
- A reliable internet connection and a phone or computer that records clean audio
- The discipline to follow instructions exactly and submit on schedule
- Voice work, audiobook narration, voiceover or audio tool experience is a plus, not a requirement
No prior AI experience is needed.
What it pays
micro1 publishes $20–70/hour. That is a very wide band for read-aloud work, and the ad does not say what moves you up it. No pay structure, weekly hours or project length are given.
Selection and start
micro1 lists five steps: screening questions, an AI interview, a form, a profile review, then onboarding with its Talent Ops team. The project kicks off on Monday, 19 October, so a late application may land after work has started.
Worth knowing
Good:
- 100 openings, flagged new and high demand
- One of the most accessible listings on micro1's board: no degree, no AI background, no special equipment
- The task is simple and well specified
- A firm kickoff date, which is rare on these boards
Less good:
- US-based applicants only
- Reading aloud for long stretches is more tiring than it sounds, and retakes eat time
- A home with traffic, pets or thin walls can make the quiet-room requirement hard to meet
- The wide band gives no guide to what most contributors actually earn
