What you'll do

You build hard, self-contained problems out of physiological signal data and then solve them yourself. A task might start from a noisy ECG or EEG recording and ask for preprocessing, filtering, segmentation, feature extraction, a classifier or a forecast, and your reference solution (in Python, MATLAB or a comparable scientific environment) is what the AI model's attempt gets judged against. The point is to teach models what rigorous, reproducible biosignal analysis looks like, so the problems need one defensible answer rather than a vague one.

It is remote contract work at roughly 15 hours a week, on whatever days and hours you choose, weekends included.

Who fits

micro1 is unusually specific here: the ideal applicant has competed in the PhysioNet / Computing in Cardiology Challenge or a comparable biomedical signal processing or scientific ML competition. Nothing is listed as strictly required, but the preferred profile is:

  • A competition entry with strong results and a substantive personal technical contribution, not just a name on a team
  • Public evidence of that work: an official team result, a conference paper, a technical report, an open-source repository or meaningful code contributions
  • Hands-on work with physiological signals such as ECG, EEG, PPG, EMG, respiratory signals, polysomnography or other clinical time series
  • The ability to explain which methods you built, which experiments you ran and how you validated the results

Prior AI training experience is explicitly not needed. The listing's required skills are biotechnology, biology and machine learning, and the work is in English.

What it pays

micro1 publishes $60–120/hour. Pay is output-based: you are paid per task that meets the project specification, so the hourly figure is an equivalent rather than a clock rate, and minimum submission requirements apply. How fast you can turn a messy recording into a clean, verifiable problem decides where you land in that band.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A rare listing that treats competition results as the credential, which suits strong engineers and grad students who lack a long job title
  • 50 openings, flagged as new and in high demand
  • Global and fully remote, with no country restriction stated
  • Short process: screening questions, a roughly 30-minute AI interview, then a hiring manager review

Less good:

  • Per-task pay means rejected or reworked tasks earn nothing for the time spent on them
  • Minimum submission requirements apply, but the ad does not say what they are
  • micro1 says it fills roles within 48 hours and expects a first task within 24–48 hours of onboarding, so this is not one to apply for if you cannot start soon
  • The client and the project length are not named

About this listing

We read this ad on micro1's signed-in jobs board on 18 October 2026, where it was marked as posted three days earlier. The pay band, openings, hours and process above are micro1's own published text. The listing does not name the customer, state a project end date or publish its payment schedule. See micro1.
