Skills

  • gambling law
  • regulatory compliance
  • legal research
  • policy review
  • cross-jurisdictional analysis

What you'll do

You explain gaming and gambling regulation to a model, and then check its answers. The scope covers interpreting statutes, regulations and compliance requirements from several jurisdictions, writing short explanations of legal principles, procedure and case law, and giving written feedback on hypothetical queries and simulated case assessments covering both online and land-based operations.

You also annotate agreements and policies for regulatory compliance, refine AI-generated content so it is accurate in practice, and comment on emerging trends and legal risks in the sector. Work is remote.

What you need

The ad lists these as preferred:

  • A Juris Doctor or equivalent legal qualification, with a valid licence to practice
  • Extensive experience in gaming, gambling or betting law, including regulatory frameworks, licensing and compliance
  • Clear written and verbal explanation of complex legal issues
  • Familiarity with international gaming regulation and cross-border questions
  • Consulting or advisory experience in gaming or technology is an advantage

What it pays

micro1 lists $140–400/hour for this role. The ad does not say what decides where in that band you land, whether pay is hourly or per task, or how often contractors are paid, so treat the range as a published band rather than a rate you can count on.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Covers both online and land-based gaming, so licensing and betting specialists both fit
  • Five openings, flagged high demand
  • Qualifications are framed as preferred, and no AI background is needed
  • Cross-border knowledge is explicitly valued

Less good:

  • No jurisdiction or bar admission is named, so it is unclear which licences count
  • No weekly hours, project length, screening steps or payment schedule are stated
  • Generalist commercial experience without gaming regulation depth is not what is described
